About Taylor

Hello, I'm Taylor. I tutor VCE Biology, Chemistry and Physics online from Geelong. My Biochemistry and Molecular Biology degree is from UWA, and I also hold a Master of Teaching (Secondary). I enjoy the questions that connect subjects: how a chemical change supports a biological process, or how a graph describes a physical system. My lessons are friendly and unhurried. If you understand an idea in conversation but freeze when you see an exam question, we can practise that transition together. You do not need to have tidy notes or know exactly what to ask before we begin.

Tutoring experience

Over four years of tutoring, I've worked with students building confidence in Units 1 and 2 and preparing for SACs and exams in Units 3 and 4. I've helped learners interpret diagrams, organise scientific explanations and improve the calculations that support their answers. Biology and Chemistry often provide a useful starting point for discussing mechanisms; Physics gives us another way to practise translating an observation into a model. I like to hear a student's first explanation before suggesting changes. We might annotate a diagram, sort a process into stages or compare two possible answers. Short recall activities help us find which ideas are secure and which need another example. I also help students turn a large revision list into a few achievable tasks. At the next lesson, we return to one of those tasks and discuss what felt easier, what still took effort and where to go next.

Friendly and reliable. Our son finds the physics lessons easy to follow.

Our daughter was anxious about chemistry assessments. Taylor has helped her make a manageable revision plan and practise unfamiliar questions without treating every mistake as a disaster.

I understand why an equilibrium shifts now, instead of guessing from a rule. Talking through a new example at the end showed me I could do it myself.

Taylor helped me separate what I needed to explain from all the extra biology facts I knew. My answers are shorter now but actually answer the question.
