Hi, I'm Julia. If Maths makes you nervous or you stare at a blank page in English, you're welcome in my lessons. I tutor both subjects for QCE and like to give students time to think aloud. I studied Mathematics at ANU and am a QCT-registered teacher. You don't need to arrive with a perfectly worded question; showing me where you got stuck is enough. I like to know how the subject feels from your side of the desk, including what has and hasn't helped you before.

I've supported students with hesitant problem-solving, essay planning and returning to topics they had started to avoid. I particularly enjoy working with learners who benefit from encouragement and a predictable lesson routine. My experience includes regular online tuition and shorter periods of support around assessments. That has included helping students make a first attempt without waiting to feel completely certain. We discuss what a question is asking, choose a starting point and build an answer that can be improved.

We choose something achievable to begin with, then add difficulty in small steps. In Maths, you explain the working; in English, we talk through an idea before shaping a paragraph. I leave space for mistakes and help you decide how to correct them. If a task feels too big, we'll reduce it to one step and work out what information that step requires. You can take that routine into your own study time.
