About Grace

Hi, I'm Grace. I tutor VCE English, Maths and Psychology, and I know how frustrating it can be to work hard without seeing what needs to change. I studied Psychology at the University of Melbourne before completing a Master of Teaching (Secondary). I'm patient, but I also like lessons to have a purpose: we should finish knowing something we couldn't explain or do at the start. You can ask me to go back a step, even if it feels like something you should already know.

Tutoring experience

I've supported students who need to revisit the basics, students preparing for assessments and confident learners who want more demanding practice. In English, that often involves developing an argument from a close reading of the text. In Psychology, we work on using terms accurately and applying them to research scenarios. For Maths, I look for gaps in the steps between the question and the answer. I have also helped students change revision habits that weren't serving them well, such as rereading notes for hours without checking what they could recall.

Teaching approach

Bring your class materials and a recent piece of work. We'll choose a priority together, try a short activity and use the result to guide the lesson. I build in time for you to practise independently, with a small follow-up task that fits around school. Sometimes we look at an incorrect sample answer together. Finding the problem in someone else's working can make it easier to spot the same issue in your own.

Very approachable. Our son is comfortable saying when he needs something explained again.

Our daughter was finding the amount of VCE psychology content overwhelming. Grace has helped her organise it and distinguish between similar terms. Revision at home is much more focused now.

The research methods practice was really useful before my SAC. I can now tell the difference between identifying a limitation and explaining its effect.

What we like is that Grace gives our daughter room to develop her own ideas. The English feedback is encouraging, with a couple of clear priorities rather than a list of everything to change.

I was writing lots but not saying much in English. Grace asks good questions and helps me make each paragraph build a point.
