About David
Clear reasoning is at the centre of my HSC tutoring in Maths, Biology and Health and Movement Science. I studied Mathematics at the University of Sydney and am a NESA-accredited teacher. I enjoy helping students who know parts of a topic but struggle to bring them together in an unfamiliar question. My lessons connect calculations, diagrams and written explanations so that students can show what they understand. I place particular value on being able to explain a result simply, whether it concerns a relationship in a graph or a response to physical activity.
Tutoring experience
My tutoring has included regular support through the school year and focused revision before assessments. I have worked with students rebuilding algebra skills, interpreting biological data and developing more precise responses about health and movement. Reviewing their marked work helps me identify whether the difficulty lies in the concept, the question wording or the way an answer is presented. This has included helping students separate a description of a trend from an explanation of its cause, and deciding which details a longer response actually needs.
Teaching approach
We start with a short question you can attempt independently. I use your working to choose the next example, then gradually reduce the prompts. You leave with a small practice task and a note of what to revisit. We also compare your first and final attempts, so the improvement is something you can identify and repeat.
