About Charlotte
My WACE Chemistry and Physics tuition focuses on accurate concepts and well-supported solutions. I hold a Chemistry degree from Imperial College London and TRBWA teacher registration. Students can expect careful explanations, purposeful practice and direct feedback on their working. I enjoy helping learners make the transition from understanding a classroom example to solving a problem in a different context. I encourage students to notice the boundary between what a question tells them and what they still need to establish.
Tutoring experience
I have supported senior secondary students with scientific calculations, interpreting graphs and analysing experimental information. A frequent part of my work is helping students distinguish a plausible answer from one that is justified by the evidence. I have also guided revision around school assessment schedules, using recent work to identify priorities. This includes checking that a conclusion follows from a graph, and deciding whether the information provided is sufficient to support a particular claim.
Teaching approach
I use a shared whiteboard to make each step visible. We discuss assumptions and units before calculating, then check whether the result is reasonable. Written explanations receive the same scrutiny: each statement should contribute to answering the question. Where two methods are possible, we compare their advantages and the checks each requires. Students then choose a route and explain the decision.
