About Casey

Hi, I'm Casey. I tutor SACE Physics, Maths and Chemistry online from Adelaide. I studied Physics at ANU and hold South Australian teacher registration. I enjoy working with students who ask why a method works, including those who have stopped asking because they worry the answer should be obvious. A lesson with me involves discussion, plenty of working and time to check the result. We can take a difficult idea seriously while keeping the conversation relaxed.

Tutoring experience

I have twelve years of tutoring experience, helping Stage 1 and Stage 2 students strengthen foundations and prepare for assessments. My work includes explaining mathematical relationships, supporting scientific calculations and helping students make sense of experimental results. I have worked with learners catching up on missed topics as well as those looking for more demanding applications. A recurring focus is showing enough reasoning for someone else to follow an answer, rather than relying on a correct number alone.

Teaching approach

Bring a recent question, some feedback or a topic that feels unsettled. We work out what you already understand and choose a useful next step. I often ask for an estimate or a sketch before a calculation, then compare it with the final result. During revision, we mix familiar questions with a few that require a different approach. We finish with a short recap in your own words and a practical task for the week. I adjust the amount of prompting as you become more confident.

We have noticed our daughter becoming more methodical with her chemistry work. She checks units and considers whether an answer makes sense. Those small habits are helping her work more independently.

Casey has helped our daughter get past the initial panic when a physics question looks unfamiliar. She now starts with a sketch and what she knows, which usually gives her a way into the problem.

Our son is using his maths lesson time well. Casey spots patterns in his mistakes and helps him practise the underlying skill, rather than just correcting the answer in front of him.

I like being able to ask why something happens in chemistry without feeling like I'm holding up a class. Casey is happy to work through it with me.

Casey's patience has made a difference for our son, who tends to give up quickly if maths is difficult. He is starting to persevere and explain what he has tried before asking for help.

Working through Stage 2 physics questions one step at a time was exactly what I needed. I understand the reasoning now, so a small change to the question doesn't throw me off.

Great physics help. Clear, relaxed and easy to follow.
